  • 2.5 cups dessicated/grated coconut
  • 1/2 litre milk (full fat)
  • 1/2 tablespoon corn flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • a pinch of green food color
  • a pinch of orange color
  • 1/4 cup dessicated/grated coconut for coating

Ingredients:

Notes / tips to follow:

  • I have used dessicated coconut/ coconut powder for this recipe. You can used the freshly grated coconut as well.
  • I have not used the mawa or condensed milk because I find it too sweet in taste. Hence, I have made the condensed milk myself and used in the recipe.
  • I had the powdered food color, you can used the liquid or gel as well. Only use 1-2 drops because this much quantity can give a good color to the food.
  • If you like milkmaid, you can use it to make this recipe for sure.
  • You can also use saffron strands for saffron color and paan leaves (paste) for getting a nice green color.
  • Full fat milk is preferred to make the condensed milk as it gives a really nice, smooth and creamy texture but you can use any milk of your choice. Corn flour will help to thicken the consistency.
  • You can make the burfi with the same recipe it is just the matter of shape 🙂
